Efforts made to improve living standard of war-disabled veterans register satisfactory outcome

In continuation of efforts on the part of the National Association of War-disabled Veterans to improve the living standard of  members in Gash-Barka region,  it provided water pumping motors to 30 veterans. Barentu, 5 November 2011- In continuation of efforts on the part of the National Association of War-disabled Veterans to improve the living standard of  members in Gash-Barka region,  it provided water pumping motors to 30 veterans.

Ms. Zuhure Melasi, one of the beneficiaries said that previously she was depending solely on rain water to cultivate her land plot, but now with the available water pumping motors she will be able to engage herself in modern irrigation farming and thereby raise production.

Mr. Rezene Tesfamariam, head of the Association’s branch office in the region, indicated that the main purpose of the rehabilitation program is to enable war-disabled veterans overcome dependency.

The regional Administrator, Mr. Musa Raba’a, explained that the Government’s continuous efforts is to enable the veterans upgrade their lifestyle and called on them to make judicious utilization of the water pumps.
