Concerted endeavors described vital for developing tourism, Says Minister

The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Askalu Menkorios, stressed the paramount importance of concerted work of all bodies and service-rendering enterprises so as to promote tourism and harness the nation’s potential in the sector.

Asmara, 7 November 2011 – The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Askalu Menkorios, stressed the paramount importance of concerted work of all bodies and service-rendering enterprises so as to promote tourism and harness the nation’s potential in the sector.

Speaking at conference held in Keren town under the theme: “Coordinated service for promoting tourism”, Ms. Askalu called on the society at large to play active role in the development of tourism.

Likewise, the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, pointed out that public participation and awareness regarding tourism was limited in the past. He reiterated the region’s readiness to exert utmost efforts for the development of the sector, and reminded owners of service –rendering institutions to provide efficient service.

A number of study papers were presented by experts on the provision of training, quality control, activities of service-rendering enterprises and the challenges they face and the like. The participants on their part conducted extensive discussion and adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations.

Ms. Askalu stressed the need to preserve and bequeath historical battle fronts, ancient religions sites, classic buildings and traces, among others.
