Community-based cleaning activities make due contribution in reducing incidence of diseases

At an annual assessment meeting conducted in Massawa town,  it was disclosed that community-based cleaning activities have made due contribution in reducing the incidence of diseases. Massawa, 10 November 2011- At an annual assessment meeting conducted in Massawa town,  it was disclosed that community-based cleaning activities have made due contribution in reducing the incidence of diseases.

Health experts and representative of the people participated, in the meeting during which they discussed set goals, achievements and shortcomings.

The participants extensively discussed the experiences acquired so far and the action program for 2012 regarding sound ecology, construction of lavatory and enriching water sources in the sub-zone.

The director of health services in the region, Mr. Berhane Gebretensae, said that the ongoing campaigns aim at raising the awareness of the public regarding cleanliness and called for the active participation of all administrative bodies and government institutions in the sub-zone.

The head sound ecology unit in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tekeste Araya, outlined activities underway towards ensuring clean environment.
