Around 731 million tree seedlings planted in 28 villages of Serejega, Berikh, and Gala-Nefhi sub-zones, as well as in 12 Administrative areas in the Central region are in good conditions, according to Mr. Abraham Teklu, from the Agricultural Ministry’s branch office in the region.
Asmara, 10 November 2011- Around 731 million tree seedlings planted in 28 villages of Serejega, Berikh, and Gala-Nefhi sub-zones, as well as in 12 Administrative areas in the Central region are in good conditions, according to Mr. Abraham Teklu, from the Agricultural Ministry’s branch office in the region.
He explained that 90% of the planted tree seedlings are eucalyptus while the rest are palm trees, Jacaranda, among other trees. In addition to about 361 thousand cactus seedlings planted in 181 hectares.
Mr. Abraham further explained that the task is being undertaken by participants of the Student’s Summer Work Program, the community and members of the Eritrean Defense Force.
Meanwhile, Administrators of sub-zones and villages have assumed the responsibility of taking due care of the seedlings.
