Mendefera sub-zone: Efforts being made to raise production of fruits and vegetables

Vegetable farmers of Medefera sub-zone expressed readiness to raise production, and thereby stabilize market demand.
Mendefera, 17 November 2011- Vegetable farmers of Medefera sub-zone expressed readiness to raise production, and thereby stabilize market demand.

The farmers said that along with raising production, the land put under cultivation is also increasing, and that such efforts would play vital role in stabilizing market demand in the sub-zone.

Mr. Tesfai Abraha, one of the farmers, said on his part that at present he is cultivating more than 13 hectares in fruits and vegetables, in addition to bee- breeding, and that he would do his level best to boost production.

In comparison with last year’s price of vegetables and fruits in the subzone, the price this year is reasonable, reports indicated.
