In a meeting held at the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers Hall marking the second congress of the blood donators club, it was disclosed that 80% of the blood demand comes from voluntary donors.
Asmara, 27 November 2011- In a meeting held at the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers Hall marking the second congress of the blood donators club, it was disclosed that 80% of the blood demand comes from voluntary donors.
During the meeting, director of the National Blood Bank of Eritrea, Dr. Yifde’amlak Tesfamariam noted that the blood donators club is saving hundreds of lives, and that efforts need to be reinforced to upgrade the number of voluntary blood donors to the top.
Noting that the availability of RH negative blood type is scarce, the participants of the meeting agreed to strengthen their organization and spread their network to the rest of the country so as to raise awareness of the public.
