Kerkebet sub-zone: Development programs underway

Administration of the Kerkebet sub-zone disclosed that various development programs are being carried out and social service rendering institutions are being put in place in Kerkebet Administrative area, Filik sub -zone.

Keren, 27 November 2011- Administration of the Kerkebet sub-zone disclosed that various development programs are being carried out and social service rendering institutions are being put in place in Kerkebet Administrative area, Filik sub -zone.

Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Hummed Ela Ali Idris noted that the administration is doing a research on the 800 hectares of farmland, which was utilized as a rich cotton plantation by the Italian colonizers.

Furthermore, the Administrator indicated that plans are being worked upon to bring together nomadic families and provide them with the needed social services in a centralized manner.

Filkit is a village located 210 kilometers north western part of Keren and has a population of around 2000 inhabitants.
