Educated female plays vital role in the development of a society, and as a result parents need to send their female children to school, according to female students in Gash-Barka region. Barentu, 1 December 2011- Educated female plays vital role in the development of a society, and as a result parents need to send their female children to school, according to female students in Gash-Barka region.
The students said education is important to all nationals especially to females, but due to lack of awareness there is less participation of females. They also called for campaigns to raise the awareness of the society in the participation of female children in education.
Nebila Abdulrahman and Betiel Kelit, said the increasing number of female participation in education register positive outcome in the livelihood of the society and at present many of the harmful practices are abolished thanks to the awareness raising campaign of the society.
Head of social-services unit at the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW)branch office in the region, Ms. Fatma Mohammed said the participation of female students in school is increasing, and called for relentless efforts for better outcome.
She also pointed out continuous campaigns are needed to introduce behavioral change in the society, and indicated that vigorous efforts are required to increase the participation of females in education.
