A number of development programs are under implementation in Anseba region, reports indicated. Keren, 3 December 2011- A number of development programs are under implementation in Anseba region, reports indicated. These include construction of micro-dams, schools, irrigation facilities and the finalization of water projects.
In line with programs, construction of schools at a total cost of 115 million Nakfa is underway, as well as teachers residential houses, additional classrooms and laboratory, among others.
As regards efforts to promote irrigation farming, 7 micro-dams and water reservoirs are being constructed at a total cost of 55 million Nakfa, in addition to a number of soil and water conservation schemes.
In connection with activities to ensure potable water supply a number of facilities have been put in place, in addition to the construction of micro-dams and water reservoirs, and the digging of wells at a total cost of 12 million Nakfa. Moreover, new towers of communication service have been erected towards enhancing mobile phone service.
The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Germai said that the inhabitants are making due contribution in the digging of wells, provision of motors, and the installation of pipelines and electricity service. He further explained that efforts towards making available specific service-rendering facilities in the sub-zones of Sel’a and Kerebet need to be intensified.
