Gash-Barka region: Distribution of Smokeless ovens playinig vital role in improving women’s living standard

The distribution of smokeless ovens in Gash-Barka region is playing vital role in improving the living standard of women, according to the head of NUEW branch in the region, Ms. Alem Belai. Barentu, 5 December 2011 – The distribution of smokeless ovens in Gash-Barka region is playing vital role in improving the living standard of women, according to the head of NUEW branch in the region, Ms. Alem Belai.

She told Erina that the NUEW branch has so far distributed more than 26 thousand of smokeless ovens in the region in the year 2010, which in turn is making due contribution in ensuring family health as well as avoiding forest destruction.

Ms. Alem further stressed the need to exert more efforts on replacing  traditional ovens with smokeless ones. She added that plans to distribute 2,000 smokeless ovens in the sub-zones of Mogolo, Barentu and Logo-Anseba is being pursued.
