Farmers in Agordet sub-zone obtain growth in crop harvest

Owners of fruits and vegetable farmlands in thesub- zone of Agordet said they are obtainin growth harvest.

Agordat, 6 December 2011- Owners of fruits and vegetable farmlands in thesub- zone of Agordet said they are obtainin growth harvest.

One of the farmers, Mr. Mustafa Mohammed Saleh noted that he is harvesting 12 hectares of vegetables and fruits fields and that his income has witnessed marked growth thanks to the rewarding farming activity he is running.

Another farmer, Mr. Mohammed Ismael, stated that exceeding the market demand of Agordet sub-zone, their products are playing significant role in stabilizing market demand in the sub-zones of Barentu, Haikota, Mogolo, Dige and Forto Sawa.

According to the Agricultural Ministry’s branch office in Agordat sub-zone, there exist a total of 164 vegetables and fruits plantations in the area that mainly focus on Banana farming.
