The need to exert more efforts towards raising school attendance of students in Tekelabai administrative area has been emphasized. Mai-Aini, 14 December 2011 – The need to exert more efforts towards raising school attendance of students in Tekelabai administrative area has been emphasized.
The director of junior school in the administrative area, Mr. Kidane Woldemichael, said that though the necessary educational facilities have been put in place, student enrollment is still short of the desired target due to low parental awareness regarding education coupled with the practice of underage marriage.
According to reports, underage marriage is one of the main reasons for student dropout in the sub-zones of Areza and Mai-mine, as well as in the Eastern Escarpment.
