Vegetables and dairy farmers in Gash-Barka region reminded to step up efforts so as to raise production

In a meeting conducted in Barentu town, vegetables and dairy farmers in the Gash-Barka region have been reminded to step up efforts through getting organized in association and thereby raise production. Barentu, 15 December 2011-  In a meeting conducted in Barentu town, vegetables and dairy farmers in the Gash-Barka region have been reminded to step up efforts through getting organized in association and thereby raise production.

The director of economic development enit in the region, Mr. Teklegergios Tewoldemedhine, said at the meeting that vegetable farmers organized in associations play vital role towards ensuring food security, and he assured them that they would receive Government support.  

The head of the Agricultural Ministry’s branch office in the region, Mr. Meseret Gebremichael, called on vegetable and dairy farmers to stepup efforts towards raising production, and satisfy local market demand.

Likewise, the Secretary General of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers, Mr. Tekesete Bayre, indicated that the association makes due contribution in improving the livelihood of farmers, and ensuring food security. He further pledged providing training and advice to members of such an  association.
