Farmers of fruits and vegetables in Mai-Aini sub-zone have been urged to work in coordination so as to put under control pesticides affecting orange, lemon and other fruits. Mai-Aini, 19 December 2011 – Farmers of fruits and vegetables in Mai-Aini sub-zone have been urged to work in coordination so as to put under control pesticides affecting orange, lemon and other fruits.

The chairman of fruits and vegetables Farmers Association in the sub-zone, Mr. Gebrehiwet Firemichael, explained that the area is endowed with suitable climate for cultivating fruits and vegetables. He also called on the Ministry of Agriculture, administration and organization bodies to take swift measures to eradicate the prevailing pesticides.

Mr. Medhane Gebrehiwet, one of the members of the association, said that they have managed to boost production thanks to the assistance being extended by experts from the Agriculture Ministry and that the number of investors is on the rise.

The fruits and vegetables Farmers Association in Mai-Aini has 700 members and has put under cultivation over 1,000 hectares.
