The Farmers Association in She’ib sub-zone engaged in cultivating 3,500 hectares of maize is expected to raise production rate. Massawa, 20 December 2011- The Farmers Association in She’ib sub-zone engaged in cultivating 3,500 hectares of maize is expected to raise production rate.
Reports indicated that the main objective of the Association is to make due contribution to the goal of food security, and thereby improve the living standard of the inhabitants. Crops in the sub-zone are also said to be in good condition.
The secretary general of the Association, Mr. Mahmoud Saleh Idris, indicated that it is exerting vigorous efforts in cooperation with the Agriculture Ministry to meet expectations.
The Farmers Association in the sub-zone was established in 2004 and has around 3,756 members out of whom 515 are females.
