Asmara, 21 December 2011 – Castanet website said that Asmara which is known for its peace and security, coupled with its cleanness and fascinating collection of architectural wonders, is one of the main tourist destination in the African cities.
In an article posted on the website under the title “Asmara, An African Gem”, it pointed out that the city is the safest African capital for travelers. The website further indicated that its cleanness, the hospitality of its residents and salubrious weather are some of the major factors that qualify Asmara as an attractive tourist destination.
Castanet also noted: “The city boasts a 700-year history, and that Christians and Muslims have lived peacefully together in Asmara for centuries setting a fine example in harmony and unity.” It also underlined that the location of Enda Marima, Al Khulafa Al Rashidin Mosque and the Catholic Cathedral in one district demonstrates the city’s age-old lifestyle in harmony.
Pointing out that Asmara has been proposed as a possible new addition to the UNESCO World Heritage Site List for its outstanding examples of 20th century architecture and town planning, the website stated that the city is one of the urban centers with hidden resources worth visiting.
It further indicated that Asmara has a number of standardized service-rendering enterprises such as hotels, restaurants and cafes that offer fine treatment.
