Fishers in Golalo have called on the Ministry of Fisheries to continue equipping them with the necessary production implements. Golalo, 21 December 2011 – Fishers in Golalo have called on the Ministry of Fisheries to continue equipping them with the necessary production implements.
They told ERINA that the task of addressing shortage of fishing equipment is crucial for adequatly harnessing the rich marine resources along the Eritrean Red Sea waters, including supplying products both to the local market and for export. The fishers further urged the provision of training by the Ministry.
The head of the branch office of the Ministry in Golalo sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Idris, indicated that the Ministry has begun distributing fishing nets, and that efforts are being made to ensure the supply of ice.
