Measures taken to control deforestation activities in the Southern region has registered satisfactory outcome, according to Cap. Daniel Kinfe, head of wildlife and forestry control unit in the region. He indicated that over the past three years a large number of trees have been cut. However, thanks to the vigorous efforts made to control such activities, the negative trend has been brought under control.Cap. Daniel further indicated that preservation of trees depend on the awareness of the society.

Mr. Tesfaselassie Tesfamicheal, expert in environmental protection, explained on his part that the task of forest conservation is gaining momentum in the area.
