Gash-Barka region: Effective tasks accomplished to ensure social welfare

At an assessment meeting held in Barentu town, it was disclosed that effective tasks have been accomplished this year to ensure social welfare. Barentu, 26 December 2011 – At an assessment meeting held in Barentu town, it was disclosed that effective tasks have been accomplished this year to ensure social welfare.

A report presented at the meeting indicated that the endeavors undertaken to ensure the health of employees of various institutions, children’s welfare, assist elders and disabled nationals have borne fruitful outcome.  Moreover, it was stated that over 5.6 million Nakfa has been extended towards reinforcing rehabilitation endeavors, extending assistance to the Disabled and students, as well as in benefit scheme to martyrs families in this year.

The director general of social welfare in the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare, Mr. Mihreteab Fisehaye, stressed the importance of assisting needy nationals to become self-supporting.

Likewise, the director general of social service in Gash-Barka regional Administration, Mr. Abdulahi Al-Amin, said that efforts would be stepped up to render efficient service to the public.
