Massawa, 28 December 2011 – The nation has imported modern machineries and public buses so as to give added impetus to the implementation of development program in 2012.

The modern machineries would play significant role in enhancing public transport service, the availability of spare parts and other necessary equipment towards strengthening all-round development efforts. The machineries would be deployed in various programs, including the development of infrastructure facilities, construction of dams and bridges, in addition to promoting mining activities.

It is to be recalled that President Isaias, during the recent Ministerial Cabinet meeting, pointed out that the development of public transport is crucial in endeavors to achieve economic growth, and that additional investment would be made in the purchase of buses, as well as the asphalting of a number of roads. To this end, substantial investment has been made as regards the required machineries, he added.

Earlier, various modern big and middle-level lorries, water trucks, firefighters and machineries for agricultural, infrastructure and construction works, among others, were imported through Massawa port.
