Major development programs implemented in Southern region

At an assessment meeting in Mendefera town, it was disclosed that major development programs for 2011  have been implemented. Mendefera, 30 December 2011 – At an assessment meeting in Mendefera town, it was disclosed that major development programs for 2011  have been implemented.

The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, indicated that 174 million Nakfa was allocated for the construction of social service institutions and infrastructure facilities, and that 70% of the outlined projects have been implemented through concerted effort.

Reports were also presented at the meeting in land revenue of urban and semi-urban centers, public participation in the implementation of development programs, soil and water conservation activities, road renovation and agricultural projects.  It further stated that satisfactory harvest has been gathered, and that fruits and vegetables cultivated through modern irrigation have registered 31% growth.
