Savings and Credit Program in Anseba region keen to enhance services

The Savings and Credit Program in Anseba region plans to enhance services focusing in Kerkebet, Sel’a and Asmat sub-zones, according to the head of the branch office, Mr. Biniam Yohannes.

Keren, 5 January 2012 – The Savings and Credit Program in Anseba region plans to enhance services focusing in Kerkebet, Sel’a and Asmat sub-zones, according to the head of the branch office, Mr. Biniam Yohannes.

 

He explained that within the program about 33 million Nakfa has been invested towards improving the living standard of the inhabitants in the region, and that there are plans to raise its investment to 45 million Nakfa this year.
Mr. Biniam further explained that last year almost all the money loaned has been paid back, and that at present 6 new village-based Banks are established in a number of villages in the region.

Ms. Beri Andebirhane and Mr. Amanuel Tekle, both beneficiaries of the program said that with the loan they got they have managed to improve their livelihood.The Savings and Credit Program in Anseba region presently owns around 136 villages –level Banks which provide service to 11,000 people in the region, reports indicated.
