The public called up on to enhance role in strengthening health service

Barentu, 19 January 2012 –  At an annual assessment meeting the Health Ministry conducted in Barentu town, members of the public were urged to enhance their role toward ensuring effective health service being provided by the Ministry in collaboration with partners.

The head of health services in Gash-Barka region, Dr. Leul Banteyigabir, indicated that health service in the region is improving both in scope and quality.He further pointed out that the establishment of Barentu Referral Hospital has alleviated problems encountered, and said that the child care unit in Barentu and Tessenei hospitals is rendering the desired service.

Reports indicated that the public has played significant role in combating contagious diseases in the region, and that efforts to introduce community-based cleanup activities and the regrouping of villages have borne fruitful outcome.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Amna Nur-husein, Minister of Health, called on all concerned parties to step up endeavors to ensure efficient health service, besides developing manpower resources, introducing new equipment and health facilities in general. She also called for discharging duties in a spirit of collaboration.
