Assistance extended to disadvantaged nationals improves their living standard

Disadvantaged nationals who received assistance from the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare said that the support they received has contributed in improving their living standard. Asmara, 20 January 2012- Disadvantaged nationals who received assistance from the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare said that the support they received has contributed in improving their living standard.

Ms. Tsigereda Tela indicated that with the loan she received she has opened a barber shop along with her colleagues, and that they are striving to improve their living standard and develop their work. Mr. Goitom Tesfamichael who is engaged in trade on his part pointed out that the activity he began with an initial investment of 30 thousand Nakfa has reached encouraging stage. He further stated that he paid back his debt and has built his own houses and that he is leading a better life.

Like-wise, Mr. Gide Gebreab, owner of diary farm explained that the activity he initiated with 30 thousand loans he received is in good condition and is producing products for the local market.The citizens told ERINA that their lifestyle is improving thanks to the interest free loan they received and called on other disadvantaged citizens and avail themselves of such opportunity.

It was indicated that more than one thousand disadvantaged citizens out of whom 300 are women have so far received loans from the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare, and that 96% has so far been paid back.
