Keren, 24 January 2012- At a workshop conducted in Amalayet semi-urban center, it was stressed that integrated efforts on the part of concerned parties are needed to raise the participation of students in education and eradicate illiteracy in the area.
The main objective of the workshop was to analyze the low number of student participation in education and the rate of illiteracy, among others. The participants conducted extensive discussion regarding the low participation of students in education, and indicated that the absence of the grouping of villages and the nomadic lifestyle of the inhabitants are the causes for such state of affairs.
The head of adult education and media unit in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Gebrezgi Demam, called on the participation of the general public in enhancing efforts to eradicate illiteracy and raise the number of student participation in education.
