The tomato plantation over 105 hectares in Gerset Agricultural Project has produced bountiful tomatoes and is playing significant role in meeting market demand. Gerset, 30 January 2012 – The tomato plantation over 105 hectares in Gerset Agricultural Project has produced bountiful tomatoes and is playing significant role in meeting market demand.

The manager of the project, Mr. Haile Amine, explained that other fruits besides tomatoes have been planted through the agricultural project, and that cotton production has registered encouraging outcome for the second time. He also said that the project has opened job opportunity to the local inhabitants.

Reports indicated that sugarcane, mangos, orange, palm and cotton, in addition to tomatoes are being cultivated over 2,000 hectares.
