Foro, 6 February 2012 – The Ministry of Agriculture’s branch office in Foro sub-zone called on the farming community to apply select seeds which can better adapt to the climatic condition in the area, and thereby boost production.
Mr. Asmerom Shimondi, expert on crop cultivation in the sub-zone, indicated that the select seeds can resist shortage of water and hot climatic condition, in addition to yielding harvest within a short time. The area is suitable for millet, sesame, and groundnut cultivation, he added.
Following a tour to maize, millet, sesame and groundnut cultivation on the part of an exemplary farmer, both Mr. Omar Ibrahim and Mr. Saleh Abdalla said that they have drawn a valuable lesson from the experience of the farmer and stressed the need to make select seed available.
