At a meeting held in Adi-Keih town on February 6, the need to combat harmful traditional practices which cause health and psychological problems to women was emphasized. Adi-Keih, 8 February 2012 – At a meeting held in Adi-Keih town on February 6, the need to combat harmful traditional practices which cause health and psychological problems to women was emphasized.

The director general of service department in the Ministry of Health, Mr. Birhane Gebretinsae, said that although endeavors to combat harmful traditional practices are registering fruitful outcome, still strenuous efforts are needed to achieve more gratifying result.

The Administrator of the town, Mr. Mohammed Hamed, on his part called for the formation of committees at village level to avoid harmful practices.

Similarly, the director general of social service in the Southern region, Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, expressed conviction that such efforts would continue in an intensified manner.

The participants of the meeting reiterated readiness to step up efforts to this end.
