Awha Community Hospital inaugurated

A Community Hospital constructed in Feqeya chekemte Administrative area, Adi-Quala sub-zone at a total cost of 17 million Nakfa has been inaugurated. Mendefera, 18 February 2012 – A Community Hospital constructed in Feqeya chekemte Administrative area, Adi-Quala sub-zone at a total cost of 17 million Nakfa has been inaugurated.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, pointed out that although the construction process was finalized in 2009, it remained short of providing service due to the fact that the necessary materials were not made ready until now. The Administrator of Adi-Quala sub-zone, Mr. Sium Gebrekirstos, said that it will begin providing service to inhabitants of 6 Administrative areas.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, said that the construction of the hospital, installation of potable water supply and other service-rendering facilities would improve the livelihood of the inhabitants of Mai-Nehayug, Adi-sheretai and Adi-Mekedai. He also advised the local inhabitants to settle in the lower part of the villages, and indicated that programs are underway to construct a school and other service-rendering facilities in the sub-zone.

The inhabitants of the sub-zone expressed appreciation, and said that the construction of such hospitals is evidence to the correct polices of the Government and pledged to judiciously utilize such facilities.
Awha Community Hospital includes 45 in-patient rooms, laboratory, and pharmacy and out-patient department, among others.
