Workshop aimed at conducting integrated effort for malaria prevention and treatment

A workshop of experts from the Gash Barka and Ansaba regions has been conducted in Tessenei aimed at strengthening the integrated efforts to combat the prevalence of malaria and means of its treatment. Tessenai, 20 February 2012 – A workshop of experts from the Gash Barka and Ansaba regions has been conducted in Tessenei aimed at strengthening the integrated efforts to combat the prevalence of malaria and means of its treatment.

A report presented by health experts from the two regions indicated that the method being applied in both regions to control the prevalence of malaria and its treatment have been proved successful on the ground. The report further expressed the need of integrated efforts on the part of the two administrative regions.

During the workshop, health experts from both regions discussed ways and means undertaken to control the prevalence of malaria and its treatment besides exchanging experiences.

Dr. Leul Banteyirga, head of health services in Gash Barka region, indicated that the aim of the workshop is to exchange experiences and ensure the citizens living at the borders of the two regions receive the necessary health services. He also called on all regions to develop similar approach of working together.

The participants on their part recommended reinforcing the imitative taken by the two regions and chart plan of action taking into consideration that Gash Barka region is frequented by visitors from different regions due to its advantage in trade and agriculture.
