The provision of potable water to Aritai semi-urban center, Habero sub-zone, is contributing to the improvement of their lifestyle and securing the health of the inhabitants, according to the residents. Habero, 21 February 2012 – The provision of potable water to Aritai semi-urban center, Habero sub-zone, is contributing to the improvement of their lifestyle and securing the health of the inhabitants, according to the residents.

They told ERINA that previously they had to walk for three hours to fetch unclean water from a river, and that with the provision of the potable water to their village has alleviated the problem.

Ms. Kedija Mohammed Faid explained that most of the population in Habero sub-zone used to lead nomadic life, and that after independence they were able to become beneficiaries of potable water and other social services for they were regrouped into villages.

Likewise, Ms. Fatma Mohammed Ibrahim said that the problem of getting potable water has become the history of the past and noted that they have been able to save their energy and health for they now got clean water adjacent to their houses.

In the same manner, Mr. Mohammed Hamid and Mr. Mohammed Hassen also indicated that the provision of potable water has contributed to the regrouping of villages and development of the semi-urban beyond securing their life and health, and called for increase of water supply points.

Currently there exist one big water reservoir and four water supply points in Aritai semi-urban.
