Association of Eritreans in Agricultural Science Hold Congress

The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe,  underlined the need for members of the Association of Eritreans in Agricultural Science to establish reliable cooperation networks with similar associations inside the country and abroad in order to secure increased output. The Minster made the remarks during an opening speech at the Congress of the Association held on the 3rd of March.

Asmara, 5 March 2012 – The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe,  underlined the need for members of the Association of Eritreans in Agricultural Science to establish reliable cooperation networks with similar associations inside the country and abroad in order to secure increased output. The Minster made the remarks during an opening speech at the Congress of the Association held on the 3rd of March.

Mr. Arefaine further underscored that the Association should play active role in training the youth by agriculture experts from within the association in order that they contribute their share in endeavors to reinforce national food security programs.

Noting the need to train skilled manpower to achieve increased higher agricultural output, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Mebrahtu Iyasu, said on his part that commendable result has been recorded by coordinating expertise at different levels.

The congress concluded its deliberations by adopting a number of recommendations among which include the need to conduct regular contact with similar associations of its kind inside and outside and extension of training to the youth and others engaged in agricultural activities.

The Association of Eritreans in Agricultural Science was established in 1994 by concerned nationals at home and abroad and has 350 members.
