Sawa, 14 March 2012 – The Center for Vocational Training in Sawa is providing this year training in 19 disciplines to 2,500 students out of whom 979 are female students, explained Mr. Tesfalidet Tekle, Director of the School.
Indicating that the objective of the vocational training center is to equip those students who did not get the opportunity to join higher institutions of learning with knowledge and skills, Mr. Tesfalidet called on the students to understand that such substantial investment is being made for their benefit, and urged parents to play due role in persuading their children.
He explained that the training center was established with five schools each providing practical and theoretical training on four disciplines and that this year the training program has been extended by two years giving special emphasis to practical training.
Mr. Tesfalidet further stated that the students have been given orientation regarding the activities of the school in order to help them identify their inclination and pursue the right discipline, and as a result the interest of students is growing with more female participating in heavy machinery.
He also noted that infrastructure renovation is being made at the center for better service provision and that the newly imported modern machineries are involved in the process.
Sawa Vocational Training Center was established in 2009 and provides training in Trade and Administration, Building Technology, Agricultural Technology and Heavy Machinery Operations.
