A dam worth more than 8 million Nakfa is under construction in Embeito, Central region.

Embeito, 17 March 2012- A dam worth more than 8 million Nakfa is under construction in Embeito, Central region.

Eng. Amanuel Misgina, who is overseeing the construction of the dam, said that the construction task began on 27 January and upon conclusion it is expected to hold 350 thousand cubic meters of water.

He further indicated that the inhabitants of Embeito are playing active participation in the construction of the dam and that already 80% of the project has been finalized.

Mr. Gebremeskel Kidane, operator of heavy machinery, said that enough machinery has been deployed and that with the encouragement and active participation of the inhabitants, he expressed hope that the construction would be finalized on time.

Eng. Amanuel also explained that the dam, besides providing potable water, could be used for cultivating 35 hectares.
