Efforts are underway to utilize Adobha River for develpment, and that 10 water diversion schemes have already  been put in place, explained Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region.

Adobha, 19 March 2012 – Efforts are underway to utilize Adobha River for develpment, and that 10 water diversion schemes have already  been put in place, explained Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region.

In a meeting she conducted with farmers from Kedhat Administrative area, Adobha sub-zone, the Administrator indicated that the Government is drawing up major development programs and reminded them to step up efforts to develop the 80 hectares in Badn.

Likewise, in a meeting she conducted with Area administrators and village elders of Afabet, Nakfa and Karora sub-zones, Ms. Tsigereda discussed programs that should be given priority for implementation.

During her visit to the micro-dams under construction in Maret and Bakla, Nakfa sub-zone, she explained that the regional Administration would provide support to the efforts of the inhabitants to alleviate their problems.

Ms. Tsigereda who stressed that people would be beneficiaries of resources only when their children get educated, advised nationals to use the opportunity of education and outlined the Government’s plan to build roads connecting different places.

Moreover, in the course of a visit to vegetable farms in Kubkub and Kamtchewa, Afabet sub-zone, Ms. Tsigereda reiterated the support of  the regional Administration.

The village elders and Area administrators on their part appreciated the development activities that the Government is conducting nationwide and reaffirmed that they would live up to expectations.
