Barentu, 21 March 2012 – The coordinator of the project of solar energy, Mr. Woldu Haileab, said that vigorous endeavors are underway for the provision of solar energy supply in the health service-rendering institutions put in place in remote areas.
He pointed out that according to a plan drawn up this year to enhance solar energy supply in 10 health centers, , the health centers put in place in Shambuko, Haikota, Gogne, Afambo, Wade, She’ib, Dekemhare, Adi-Qala, Vilajo, and Mhlab are providing commendable service.
Mr. Woldu further indicated that the objective of the project is to improve the proficiency of those institutions that did not get electricity supply and also use as standby for the institutions with the required electricity supply in case of emergency.
The head of finance and administration at the Health Ministry’s branch office in Gash-Barka region, Mr. Ibrahim Salih, said that the solar energy supply provided is playing vital role in tackling the previous problem of power supply.
Moreover, Nurse Tesfay Beraki, at the Haikota Health Center, said that before the provision of the solar energy supply they were using torches for emergencies, but now the problem has been solved.
