Emberemi Elementary School has been upgraded to junior school level and as a result the enrollment of students in general and female students in particular is growing, according to Mr. Yoel Tekle, director of the school. He indicated that the reason for the growth in female enrollment is that the awareness of parents has increased due to campaign conducted. Moreover, the upgrading of the school to junior level has created a good opportunity for those students who finished elementary school and who used to travel about 10 Km. to Massawa to pursue further education.
Mr. Yoel further stated that the enrollment of students at the elementary and junior level has increased by 10% compared to last year and that of female students at elementary level by l 6% and at junior level by 2%.
He reiterated that the role of teachers is significant in ensuring the development of education and appreciated the cooperation of parents with teachers.
