Areza, 28 March 2012 – The residents of Areza semi-urban centre and the concerned government bodies are working together to resolve the current shortage of potable water in the area.
The Administrator of the semi-urban centre, Ms. Miliete Tsegai explained that the Mai-Guangua dam, constructed in 1992, has been supplying enough potable water to the inhabitants over the past 20 years. To solve the current shortage of potable water supply, two potable water stations have been renovated and the Mai-Bulusya micro-dam is on track of overhaul.
From the inhabitants, Mr. Yonas Ambesajir and Ms. Gidey Gebremariam expressed conviction that the ongoing efforts would fully resolve the current shortage of potable water.
Ms. Shewit Abay, who is engaged in the follow-up of water distribution in Areza semi-urban centre, said that the renovation of the tap water stations has simplified the prevailing shortage and that such efforts should continue to fully tackle the problem.
The Administrator of Areza sub-zone, Mr. Berhane Mengesha, recommended that the community should apply judicious utilization of water and that more emphasis should be made on campaigns for the renovation of the micro-dam.
