The 11th regular meeting of the Northern Red Sea Assembly was held in the port city of Massawa from 26 to 27 March under the theme “All-round progress through integrated effort.” Massawa, 29 March 2012 – The 11th regular meeting of the Northern Red Sea Assembly was held in the port city of Massawa from 26 to 27 March under the theme “All-round progress through integrated effort.”
Mr. Ibrahim Ali Sheik, Chairman of the regional Assembly, in a speech he delivered at the meeting, said that all attempts designed to hinder the nation’s development drive would as ever end up in utter failure, and that the Assembly is serving as a bridge between the Government and the people in order to work with responsibility in entertaining and following up the demands of the public.
The regional Assembly conducted extensive discussion on the reports presented by the departments of the Zonal administration and the Assembly members put forth views and adopted decisions that would strengthen future activities.
The Northern Red Sea Assembly’s deliberations focused on promotional campaigns that target parents in case of women and education, promoting integrated development plans pertaining to soil and water conservation, renovation of damaged water diversion canals as well as strengthening community-based development undertakings. The Assembly also lauded the positive initiatives being taken at regional level to safeguard societal values and preserve archaeological sites.
