Fruits and vegetables farmers in Agordet and Dige sub-zones said that they are exerting more efforts for higher production.

Agordat, 30 March 2012 – Fruits and vegetables farmers in Agordet and Dige sub-zones said that they are exerting more efforts for higher production.

The farmers, who stated that their harvests are making satisfactory contribution to the goal of meeting market demand, explained that working in an organized manner has afforded them good ground for further outcome.

Out of the farmers, Mr. Abubeker Mahmoud Sedig, said that they send bananas and vegetables produced by the Association to markets in Asmara and other cities.

Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Idris and Mr. Gebrehiwet Mesfin on their part explained that the vision of the association targets meeting market demand and creating job opportunities in the area.

Mr. Yeibio Tsegai, chairman of the Association, equally explained that the Association has 351 member farmers who own a total of 3,500 hectares of farm land, and that some of them have farming experience since 1996.
