Anseba sub-zone: Demand made for community participation in prevention of communicable diseases

Dr. Kesetebirhan Solomon, medical director of the Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, pointed out that the community should supplement the efforts being made to prevent and control communicable diseases through popular participation based on higher awareness. In a meeting he conducted with heads of Ministry branch offices in the sub-zone, representatives of national associations and religious leaders, Dr. Kesetebirhan noted that tuber culosis, the cause which infection could be people or animals is a curable disease provided the Dots treatment is applied properly. He also called for integrated efforts by both government institutions and associations towards raising public awareness.

The participants of the meeting on their part expressed readiness to reinforce their effort in preventing communicable diseases.

Among the participants, Mr. Alem Woldeyohens, Mr. Amanuel Gebremichael and Mr. Samuel Amine, as well as a student testified that instructions given by medical personnel should be followed strictly for effective treatment.

Dr. Kesetebirhan disclosed that the Health Ministry is engaged in vigorous efforts along with stakeholders so as to safeguard the health of the society.
