Inhabitants of Barentu sub-zone supplement efforts to enhance Barentu-Shambuko road

The inhabitants of Barentu sub-zone have been supporting the ongoing efforts to asphalt the Barentu-Shambuko road through undertaking community-based campaigns. Barentu, 3 April 2012 – The inhabitants of Barentu sub-zone have been supporting the ongoing efforts to asphalt the Barentu-Shambuko road through undertaking community-based campaigns.

Mr. Gebreyesus Gebregergish, Chairman of the executive committee for community-based development campaigns in the sub-zone, stated that the goal of the efforts being made is to reinforce endeavors to construct the road to full suitability. He also explained that 6,500 people and 38 private cars have taken part in the campaign that lasted for 6 days in collecting 400 cubic meters of stone.

Among the participants of the campaign, Ms Kedija Faid and Mr Tsegai Woldemariam, expressed conviction that community-based group activities are effective, and asserted that they would pursue such initiatives till the finalization of the construction of the road.

Mr. Adem Mohammed Osman equally commended the initiative taken by the government and inhabitants of the sub-zone to repair Barentu-Shambuko road, which has been causing transport problems. Moreover, he expressed readiness to participate in the popular task.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gebreyesus attested that the inhabitants of the sub-zone are making considerable contribution to the national development program and stated that the campaign would continue until the finalization of the construction of the road.
