Northern Red Sea region Museum calls on citizens to reinforce collaboration in preservation of artifacts

The museum branch in Northern Red Sea region called on citizens to enhance their role in the preservation of artifacts. Mr. Isaias Tesfazgi, staff member of the museum in the region, who explained that its objective is related with the exploration and excavation of historical sites and artifacts as regards their preservation and documentation, indicated that endeavors are being made to promote people’s awareness as regards preservation of artifacts and that researches are undertaken on historical sites in contact with community elders. Massawa, 4 April 2012 – The museum branch in Northern Red Sea region called on citizens to enhance their role in the preservation of artifacts. Mr. Isaias Tesfazgi, staff member of the museum in the region, who explained that its objective is related with the exploration and excavation of historical sites and artifacts as regards their preservation and documentation, indicated that endeavors are being made to promote people’s awareness as regards preservation of artifacts and that researches are undertaken on historical sites in contact with community elders.

Meanwhile, Mr Isaias explained that the specialty of the artifacts and historical sites available in Northern Red Sea region is that they are related with all the historical phases of colonization in Eritrea and that the present buildings date back to 500 years.

It is to be recalled that a number of concerned government institutions have been reporting growing number of tourists who visited the port city of Massawa in recent years.
