Health station in Kermed rendering commendable serice

The inhabitants of Kermed, Hagaz sub-zone, expressed satisfaction with the service being provided by the health station in the locality. They further indicated that previously they were facing difficulties transporting patients in the locality to Hagaz and Keren and commended the Government’s dedication to improve the livelihood of nationals in remote areas. Hagaz, April 6, 2012 – The inhabitants of Kermed, Hagaz sub-zone, expressed satisfaction with the service being provided by the health station in the locality. They further indicated that previously they were facing difficulties transporting patients in the locality to Hagaz and Keren and commended the Government’s dedication to improve the livelihood of nationals in remote areas.

An inhabitant of Felhito, Ms. Asha Mohamed Ali, in the same vein explained the hardship the community was going through before the establishment of the health facility in the locality and indicated that presently safety has been guaranteed for mothers during labor.

Ms. Letemichael Hidrai, inhabitant of Adai, and Ms. Selam Abraha, from Shebeq on their part pointed out that thanks to the community’s growing awareness the morbidity of malaria in the area has by far fallen off.

Mr. Kebedom Araya, head of health station in Kermed, stated that they have already made remarkable contribution in safeguarding the community’s health. He further indicated that significant outcome has been registered in malaria control through active participation of community health volunteers, and that waiting room has been put in place for maternity purpose.

The health station in Kermed, 38 km. from Hagaz, serves the villages of Kermed, Shebeq, Ad-Aregai, Ad-Hamad, Ad-Omar, Felhito, Qar’owat, Dembezeratsion, Adai and Gula, within Gash-Barka region.
