Inhabitants of Foro sub-zone express readiness to back up national development drive

The inhabitants of 6 Administrative areas in Foro sub-zone expressed readiness to back up the endeavors underway in the locality to ensure food security through soil and water conservation. Foro, April 7, 2012 – The inhabitants of 6 Administrative areas in Foro sub-zone expressed readiness to back up the endeavors underway in the locality to ensure food security through soil and water conservation.

In a meeting they held with Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, Administrator of Northern Red Sea region, the inhabitants of Robrobiya, Mahfid, Ruba-Haddas, Arebto, Gedem-Lahzien and Kumhle asserted that they have become beneficiaries of basic social service facilities and commended the Government’s dedication to ensure social justice in every corner of the nation.

The inhabitants further expressed conviction that they had limited awareness in agriculture before intensive and successful sensitization activities were carried out in the locality. They also indicated that farming activities are underway in Fatima-Are area on 110 hectares, through which members of the community could satisfy their demand.

The inhabitants further explained that they could ensure positive change in their livelihood as the majority of a number of communities renounced living in mountainous areas and began living as a community. Subsequently, they called on the remaining few villages to pave the way for effective setup of social service facilities by leading community-based lifestyle.

Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis noted that several educational, health and potable water supply facilities have been put in place in the sub-zone and asserted that solid efforts are underway to meet further needs of the community. She also called on farmers in Fatima-Are to reinforce endeavors for higher harvest.
