Ministry rehabilitates citizens displaced by volcanic eruption in Southern Red Sea region

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare rehabilitated 745 families displaced by volcanic eruptions in the Southern Red Sea region. The families previously living in Sireru and Asbuy and later on relocated in Alale, Wade and Hawera, Southern and Central Denkalia sub-zones, were rehabilitated at a total of 10,000 Nakfa in the form of herds.

Assab, 11 April 2012 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare rehabilitated 745 families displaced by volcanic eruptions in the Southern Red Sea region. The families previously living in Sireru and Asbuy and later on relocated in Alale, Wade and Hawera, Southern and Central Denkalia sub-zones, were rehabilitated at a total of 10,000 Nakfa in the form of herds.

Among the citizens, Hasna Elema and Maha Elema, indicated that the government has been supporting them in various ways and expressed confidence that the herds would guarantee a good start for their living.

Mr. Mohammed Abdalla Ali and Ms. Meryem Ahmed on their part expressed conviction that the initiative taken to rehabilitate them is a solid demonstration of the government’s commitment to safeguard the wellbeing of citizens. They also said that they would work hard to use the opportunity as a stepping stone and improve their livelihood.
