Call made for active role of citizens in crime prevention

Col. Mehari Tsegai, Commander of the Eritrean Police Force, held a seminar with community representatives, religious leaders, elders and civil servants in Ginda pursuing the agenda of reinforcing active community participation in crime prevention. Mehari Tsegai, Commander of the Eritrean Police Force, held a seminar with community representatives, religious leaders, elders and civil servants in Ginda pursuing the agenda of reinforcing active community participation in crime prevention.

Col. Mehari asserted that the community is a watchdog of its own security and that most of the criminal actions and accidents effectively tackled by the police were based on the people’s collaboration. He further indicated that the Eritrean Police Force has been engaged in undertaking intensive promotional activities to bequeath the legacy of moral conduct to the next generation, and that the citizens’ awareness as regards law should be reinforced.

The participants of the seminar on their part expressed confidence that they would actively cooperate with the police in the prevention of crime and accidents.
