Nationals in Adi-Nefas carry out afforestation activities

The nationals in Adi-Nefas, Akria Administrative area, are carrying out soil and water conservation, as well as afforestation activities in Mai-Amus area. Asmara, 13 April, 2012 – The nationals in Adi-Nefas, Akria Administrative area, are carrying out soil and water conservation, as well as afforestation activities in Mai-Amus area.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Gebreab Asgedom and Ms. Leteslasie Keleta, indicated that the popular activity is aimed at securing animal feed through improvement of vegetation cover in the area, and that the community has demonstrated zealous participation in the action.

Mr. Kahsai Gebregziabher, Ms. Mebrat Tewolde and Abdelwase Seid equally explained that similar activities have been carried out by the community, and called on concerned citizens and government bodies to ensure the sustainability of the achievements already scored.

Mr. Hizkias Wuhbet, Administrator of Akria Administrative area, explained that such activities are being undertaken in line with the national development drive.

Mr. Teklai Gebrekristos, member of the community development committee in Adi-Nefas, pointed out on his part that the residents have built a library, hall and teachers’ residential building at a total cost of 850,000 Nakfa, besides rehabilitating 143 families of martyrs at 450,000 Nakfa.
