Community-based style of living boosts agricultural activities in Foro sub-zone

The inhabitants of Mahfed Administrative area, Foro sub-zone, are engaged in preparation of land, as well as soil and water conservation activities pursuing the program drawn up to cultivate 150 hectares in Gelel-Ende. Foro, 16 April 2012 – The inhabitants of Mahfed Administrative area, Foro sub-zone, are engaged in preparation of land, as well as soil and water conservation activities pursuing the program drawn up to cultivate 150 hectares in Gelel-Ende.

Mr. Ali Abdulrahman, Administrator of Mahfed Administrative area, explained that the community took an alternative initiative of leading community-based lifestyle in Gelel-Ende and that it has demonstrated readiness to practice integrated agricultural activities. He further indicated that a total of 800 meters of water diversion canals and 500 meters of terraces have been built along with the preparation of an extensive farm land.

Among the inhabitants, Ms. Nasra Ibrahim and Ms. Tsega Ferede, asserted that such a life-changing activity is a real impetus to ensure development endeavors through effective work by the citizens.

Mr. Abubeker Suleman on his part indicated that the community demonstrated exemplary dedication to the project.
