Micro-credit and savings program upgrades livelihood of Mai-Aini inhabitants: Report

The farmers in Mai-Aini said that micro-credit and savings program has brought about visible improvement in their livelihood. Mai-Aini, 20 April 2012 – The farmers in Mai-Aini said that micro-credit and savings program has brought about visible improvement in their livelihood.

One of the beneficiaries of the program, Ms. Birhana Tewolde, expressed conviction that her effective utilization of micro-credit has enabled her to pay back the credit she got and accumulate enough capital.

Likewise, Mr. Guesh Negasi stated that he is in a position to fully support his family besides owning herds. He further indicated that he would engage himself in animal-fattening activities in the future.

Ms. Lemlem Woldegebriel explained on her part that thanks to the micro-credit and savings program she has opened clothing shop.

Mr. Negash Husein, head of the micro-credit and savings program in the locality, explained that a total of 2.5 million Nakfa has been made available in 8 Administrative areas of the sub-zone, and that endeavors were exerted to enhance the awareness of the community as regards making effective use of micro-credits and savings. He further explained that farmer beneficiaries of the program have demonstrated visible improvement and that the program would next focus on the remaining Administrative areas in the locality.
